While AI-driven diagnostics and robotic surgical aids grab headlines, a broader integration—sometimes dubbed “infosomatic medicine”—positions AI as a companion to holistic well-being. Rather than conceive of disease strictly in terms of isolated physiological malfunctions, we can interpret it as a system-level disturbance involving mental, social, and lifestyle patterns. AI systems excel at collating data from wearable devices, genome analyses, and medical records, detecting subtle shifts in real time. Paired with systemic thinking, these insights can guide interventions that address underlying imbalances, not just symptomatic relief.
This synergy challenges the conventional separation between patient and healthcare provider. A well-designed AI might serve as an ongoing adviser for self-regulation, helping individuals tailor diet, exercise, stress management, and even social connections to maintain equilibrium.
