The travel and tourism industry has a strong wind in its sails and our collective desire to make up for the lost time of social distancing and border closings – colloquially known as ‘revenge travel’ – is proving to be a powerful trend that for the time being seems to be overshadowing greater economic concerns. Nevertheless, the World Tourism Organization’s panel of experts survey named the economic situation plus higher transport and accommodation costs as the top factors weighing on the recovery of international tourism.
