Jeff Bezos’ space exploration company, Blue Origin, is preparing for its 20th mission and fourth manned flight next week. The passenger docket is a veritable who’s who of investors, STEM educators and professionals, CEO’s and explorers…oh, yeah, and Pete Davidson from Saturday Night Live.
Uhhhh, OK.
Yes, the comedian and THC enthusiast will be even higher next week than usual, donning a royal blue flight suit and heading for a complimentary 11-minute ride into orbit on March 23, following in the footsteps of previous celebrity astronauts Micheal Strahan and William Shatner.
The decision to include Davidson was made after a month of talks and a private January dinner party hosted by Bezos and partner Lauren Sanchez. But we think Davidson had a leg up for being included — just like Shatner did. See, you may not remember it, but Davidson has donned a spacesuit before.
“Chad on Mars” is an SNL short starring another of the world’s leading billionaire interested in space. One Elon Musk, to be exact. Let’s hope his trip on Blue Origin goes a bit better.
Take your protein pills and keep your helmet on, Pete!
