Watch these teens react to hearing Dolly Parton for the first time

Dolly Parton is considered an American music icon by millions of people all over the world, and her song Jolene is considered one of the best songs ever recorded (it was ranked No. 217 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” in 2004). Released in 1973, the song is quickly approaching its 50th anniversary, so it’s not surprising that a couple of teenagers had never heard the song until earlier this month.

Their reaction is, well, you just have to see it to appreciate it.

Twin brothers Tim and Fred Williams from Gary, Indiana, have a YouTube channel, TwinsthenewTrend, where they listen to different types of music and react to it. Their reasons for wanting to do so are especially poignant in today’s political and social landscape. They’ve listened to songs like Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, The Carpenter’s Rainy Days and Mondays and The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody.

“We wanted to start a new trend and just react to all types of music and bring people together by it,” the brothers explained on “The Daily Briefing.”

We think Dolly, a uniter across music and political spectrums herself, would be proud.

Thanks for the joy, Tim and Fred!
