German Chocolate Cake
German chocolate cake is layered chocolate cake frosted with coconut-pecan frosting. The world first learned of this delicious cake in 1957 when a recipe was printed in The Dallas Morning News.
Despite its name, this cake did not originate in Germany. The cake was the creation of homemaker Mrs. George Clay, who named the cake after its key ingredient, Baker’s German’s Sweet Chocolate.

Stan Strickland’s cake and candy shop Savannah’s Candy Kitchen is known for its pralines and pecans, but the Savannah, Georgia, bakery also bakes an impressive German Chocolate Cake. This 8-in. golden beauty is drizzled with a cross-hatch of chocolate ganache.

Chocolate Doberge Cake
