Are you feeling lucky? If so, shouldn’t you be getting in on the Powerball fun? Powerball is one of the most popular lottery games in the United States, offering astronomical jackpots that can change lives in an instant. But how much does a Powerball ticket cost? And can you play online if you’re always on the go? Let’s dive into how much Powerball costs so you can go for your very own pot of gold.

How Much is a Powerball ticket?

Powerball tickets cost $2.00 a play. The cost is the same whether you Quick Pick your numbers or choose your own.

What’s the difference between a a $2 and $3 Powerball ticket?

Depending on your state, you can add two features to your ticket for $1 each: Power Play and Double Play.

How much is a Powerball ticket with Power Play?

Powerball with Power Play costs $3 a play. Power Play is a $1 add-on feature that will multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x. The 10x multiplier can only be in play when the jackpot is below $150 million.

Power Play is available in all participating Powerball jurisdictions, except for California. In Idaho and Montana, Powerball tickets come automatically bundled with Power Play for a minimum price of $3 per play.

Powerball with Double Play

Powerball with Double Play costs $3 a play. Double Play is a $1 add-on feature that you can add to your ticket in 16 participating states. Double Play gives players in select jurisdictions another chance to match their same set of Powerball numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.

Adding Powerball Play and Double Play

Adding both the Power Play and Double Play features to your tickets costs $4 a play. Just remember: the Power Play multiplier does not apply to prizes won in the Double Play drawing.

How Late Can You Buy Powerball Tickets?

Typically, the ticket cutoff is 1-2 hours before the official drawing at 10:59 PM EST, but this can vary by state, so make sure to check when the cutoff is for you based on where you are located.

Where does the Powerball money go?

About half of Powerball lottery ticket revenue goes directly to Powerball winners in the form of prizes.

The other half goes to lottery administration and is returned back to the state for the public good. Think: the environment in Colorado, college scholarships in Arkansas, firefighter pensions in New Jersey and MANY MORE important state causes.

Beneficiaries differ state by state, but each state returns a percentage of lottery revenue from ticket sales in their state to their own causes.
