A doctor in Deal, New Jersey, says he has “absolute confirmation” of two cases of COVID-19 reinfection in patients belonging to the same family.
Dr. Stuart Ditchek posted a YouTube video Wednesday night saying “We now have two cases that are reinfected that I am personally connected with.”
The first patient had COVID-19 a few months ago, Ditchek explains in the video, but tested negative for months. This patient went to a party last weekend, and tested positive for coronavirus this week, he continues.
The second reinfected patient came from the same family and, according to Ditchek, had accumulated “so many antibodies from his previous COVID-19 infection” that he was able to donate plasma to other COVID-19 patients twice.
