Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. has spent his professional life in public service, acting as the U.S. senator from Delaware for 36 years. He is now the 46th President of the United States with a current net worth of $9 million as reported by Celebritynetworth.com.

After college, Biden began his career working as a law clerk, and then as a public defender before opening his firm, but fate had other plans. After winning a local election, he set his sights on the U.S. Senate and won a long-shot race.

Early net worth

During his tenure in Congress, from 1972 to 2008, Biden’s net worth floated around $500,000.  But by the end of his term as vice president,  Biden’s financial disclosure showed a net worth of $1.5 million.

“I entered as one of the poorest men in Congress, left one of the poorest men in government — in Congress and as vice president,” Biden has said.

In 2017, Biden received an advance for a three-book deal, which contributed a lot to his current net worth. He also made hundreds of thousands of dollars from public speaking events — he made more than 40 speeches from 2017-2018.

Current earnings

Biden is currently earning $400,00 as president. He is also entitled to a $50,000 annual expense account, a $100,000 nontaxable travel account, and a $19,000 annual entertainment stipend.

His income outside the office is limited to one rental income property from renting Biden’s Delaware guest house to the secret service. All other income is through salary, book deals, and public speaking engagements.
