As one of the most successful women in Hollywood, it seems like there’s nothing Gwyneth Paltrow can’t do.

From starring in the biggest Marvel blockbusters to launching her wellness and lifestyle company, Goop, to landing a Netflix show centered around her company’s philosophy, the Iron Man actress is downright unstoppable — and raking in millions of dollars in the process.

But for those less familiar with her background, she’s had some great role models to drive her to greatness.

Gwyneth Paltrow comes from a lineage of award-winning actresses and directors

Her mom, Blythe Danner, is a highly accomplished actress and performer, best known in recent years for her role in Meet the Parents. But prior to that, she was also a Broadway sensation with two Emmys and a Tony Award in her name.

Her dad, Bruce Paltrow, was once one of the biggest names in Hollywood. He was a well-respected producer and writer known for his TV series, including St. Elsewhere, The White Shadow, and Tattinger’s.

It should then come as little surprise that Paltrow’s family lived in a beautiful 6-bedroom mansion set in one of Santa Monica’s most desirable neighborhoods.

And that exact mansion is now up for grabs after hitting the market this week for a whopping $17,500,0000. Robert Lawrence Edie with Compass holds the listing.

Mansion once owned by Gwyneth Paltrow parents

Nowadays, Gwyneth Paltrow lives in Montecito, in a custom-built home that she shares with her husband, director-producer Brad Falchuk, and their combined four children. But her childhood home easily rivals her current abode.

Paltrow’s parents bought the beautiful home in 1976 — when the Avengers actress was about 4 years old — and owned it for 30 years.

Built in 1913, the home is set in the sought-after Santa Monica neighborhood of Gillette Regent Square, and has a distinct elegance that hints at its glamorous past and Hollywood ties.

With a generous 6,887 square feet of living space, the house has 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, and one half bath. But that barely scratches the surface of what the property has to offer its future residents.

Meandering paths

But it’s the outdoor space that steals the show with its mature trees, meandering pathways, two fire pits, and multiple outdoor dining spots, all leading to an impressive Balinese-inspired pool & spa.

The lushly landscaped backyard is rightfully likened with a tropical oasis and provides plenty of seating for residents to enjoy the green space alongside their friends, family, and guests.

There’s also a two-story guesthouse on the property (currently configured to include a gym, dry sauna, bedroom, and office), as well as a three-car showroom with walls of glass overlooking the pool.

Paltrow’s family sold the property in 2006, with public records showing that a subsequent owner was Jérôme Dahan, co-founder of luxury denim brand Jean Atelier.

Dahan and his wife, Elsa, called the property home up until last year, when they listed it for sale in early 2021 for $12,595,000. It took just a little over a month for a buyer to take it off their hands.

But they did make the most of their Santa Monica retreat before passing it along to its latest owner, and recent interviews show how they filled the home with exquisite art pieces (including quite a few Basquiats) and lined the generously sized closets with designer brands.

As for Paltrow, she eventually settled down in a different part of California, in the upscale neighborhood of Montecito, in Santa Barbara County.
