From bizarre food puns to bone-chilling declarations, the world has heard a number of spine-tingling last words from some of the most brutal convicts throughout history. Here are some of the creepiest (and oddest) final words of American death row inmates we could find.
Thomas J. Grasso
- Execution date: March 20, 1995
- Convicted of: Strangling an elderly woman with her Christmas lights, stealing $8 from her purse and $4 found in her home, selling her TV for $125; murdering an elderly man, and stealing his social security check
- Last words: “I did not get my SpaghettiOs, I got spaghetti. I want the press to know this.”
Aileen Wuornos
- Execution date: Oct. 9, 2002
- Convicted of: Shooting to death and robbing seven of her male clients while working as a prostitute in Florida
- Last words: “I’d just like to say I’m sailing with the Rock and I’ll be back like ‘Independence Day’ with Jesus, June 6, like the movie, big mother ship and all. I’ll be back.”
Torrey Twane McNabb
- Execution date: Oct. 19, 2017
- Convicted of: Shooting a Montgomery police officer
- Last words: “Mom, sis, look at my eyes. I got no tears. I am unafraid. To the state of Alabama, I hate you… I hate you. I hate you.”
George Appel
- Execution date: Aug. 9, 1928
- Convicted of: Shooting and murdering a police officer after robbing a restaurant in Brooklyn

Barbara Graham

Saddam Hussein

Karla Faye Tucker Brown
- Execution date: Feb. 3, 1998
- Convicted of: Killing two people with a pickaxe during a burglary
- Last words: “I am going to be face to face with Jesus now… I love you all very much. I will see you all when you get there… I will wait for you.”
Grover Cleveland Redding
- Execution date: June 24, 1921
- Convicted of: Causing the death of two of his followers during a riot that got violent; Redding believed he was the prince of Abyssinia and that he would help his followers go back to their homeland

John William Cockrum
- Execution date: Sept. 30, 1997
- Convicted of: Shooting a clerk in Texas to death

George Harris
- Execution date: Sept. 13, 2000
- Convicted of: Shooting someone in a drug house who would not give him back two machine guns he owned
- Last words: “Somebody needs to kill my trial attorney.”
Robert Charles Towery
- Execution date: March 8, 2012
- Convicted of: Strangling a man to death during a home invasion in 1991
- Last words: “I love my family. Potato, potato, potato.” According to Towery’s lawyer, his nephew thought that’s what a Harley-Davidson motorcycle sounded like; so, his lawyer said that was Towery’s way of telling his nephew that everything was OK.
Carl Panzram
- Execution date: Sept. 5, 1930
- Convicted of: Confessing in an autobiography to have killed 21 people and raping over a thousand men and boys; police could not find evidence for most of the murders
- Last words: “Yes, hurry it up, you Hoosier [expletive redacted]! I could kill a dozen men while you’re screwing around!”
Vincent Gutierrez
- Execution date: March 28, 2007
- Convicted of: Murdering a man during a carjacking
- Last words: “I would like to tell everybody that I’m sorry about the situation that happened. My bad – everybody is here because of what happened.
