New data from the Statista Global Consumer Survey suggests that one of these changes could be preferences in alcoholic drinks. When looking at the drink type which the largest share of U.S. respondents for each age group said they consume, some interesting differences can be observed.
Respondents between the ages of 21 and 39 most commonly cited cocktails and long drinks as one of their tipples of choice. Once respondents hit 40, it’s beer which made its way to the forefront. For the over-59s, wine also crept in, sharing the top spot with beer. Changes in society and drinking habits over time could of course also be at play here. We’ll have to come back to this in a few decades to see if those drinking cocktails today are still as keen as they approach retirement.
